The regional council in brief

The Regional Council is the deliberative organ of the region.  The Far-North  is composed of ninety (90) Regional Councillors coming from the 47 subdivisions. 

The regional council shall settle matters of the region by deliberation. It holds its sessions every term. It is made up of four committees which examine deliberations to be adopted in plenary sessions

The regional council  shall exercise powers devolved upon regions in the following domains: environmental and natural resources management, spatial planning, regional development, public works, town planning and housing,  health and social development , education and literacy, vocational training,  youth, sports and leisure,  culture and promotion of national languages.
